Yesterday, Golden Bell Awards had released its nominations for this year, but Taiwanese idols including Da S, Xiao Zhu, Zai Zai, Wu Zun, Ella, Joe Cheng and many more all marched down. Jerry Yan vied his "The Hospital" to hit the Golden Bell Movie King, came up threatening but nevertheless lost. That drama which mainly took his appeal came up with 8 nominations, with copyright earnings from many countries already reached NT$100 millions, but actually stumbled down in his own homebase. Yesterday, Director Cai regretted, " It's really too bad for Jerry. His performance was gradually entering the borders of excellence, but maybe because the role was very limited."
Idol Defeat
This year's Golden Bell TV awards are dim with idol starlights. Yesterday, as the Public Information Agency announced the list of nominations, viewers were all disappointed with the turnout on their TV idol drama stars. Apart from Jerry starring in "The Hospital," there were no other nominees that were favorable to the viewers. Wu Zun's had two entries "Tokyo Juliet" and "Hana Kimi" also returned with no merit. Zaizai in "Silence" was highly praised but it has not been nominated. Da S and Xiao Zhu went all the way to Shanghai to film "Corner With Love" but it only sold to viewer's approval. In addition, Ming Dao's "Magicians of Love" also came down hopeless, while female sensations Ella and Ariel Lin were equally given no chances to win any awards.
Power rises overseas, stumbles in hometown
Jerry used his super strong charisma to turn "The Hospital" into a top card. That drama even ascended to become the first Taiwanese TV drama to be aired over NHK Japan. Although it is aired over a satellite TV channel, yet it's total copyright earnings plus the DVD, TV book, Original Soundtrack and other related goods already broke the hundred million excellent mark, repeatedly written down for a beautiful Taiwanese TV record. Moreover, on the list of artists who entered the nominations, that drama immediately produced Leon Dai, Wu Meng Da, Zhang Guo Zhu, Yang Lin Hua and Saya to get nominations, with only him loosing in the list. Many fans felt unfair for him and thought that his rising power abroad is a glory for Taiwan, yet he is tragically being pushed down in his hometown. Jerry attends class in Japan, and his agent Matt Cheng expressed, " He is not really that keen for the award nomination, having not nominated is better, then of course it will also be a lot of room for improvement. "
The Awards Night will be held on November 17, 7 pm at the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall which will be televised by Azio TV.
